Who is MONKPANDA?

Character design by MONKPANDA. FALL 2018

Hi, I’m MONKPANDA, A current local Atlanta street artist/ graph ic designer/ chalk artist. I begin all throughout grade school learning and creating artistry like chalk art, printmaking, painting and other interesting mediums. I took part in art competitions in high school like the Congressional Arts Competition in the early 2000s. Then, I began to pursue my creative career further in college at The Art Institute of Atlanta. I received my Bachelors of Graphic Design in Summer 2013.

After, I begin to showcase art shows with my closest colleagues every month in different parts of Metro Atlanta as a side hustle. We then eventually started up a collective called Snakes and Snails Arts. During that time, we begin creating T-shirt designs and creating vinyl stickers from scratch as well. On the same moment, I was recommended from fellow another colleague to intern for design/marketing agency, (InkGility INC.) where I produced start up brand logo or 3D logos, creative suites, and innovative branding packages for big and small companies all over the world.  I excelled there from intern to Senior Designer.

Much later, I started pushing my creative skills in other areas. I would hangout at a lot of local cafes and pizzerias. I then came across this bubble tea shop called Honey Bubble on Ponce De Leon near downtown Atlanta. I used to hang out a lot there because of the great tea and the convenience of chalking freely on there giant chalkboards. I begin drawing attention there with my creative stylized chalk art. This attention lead me in contact with Georgia Chalk Artist Guild (GACAG) in which a later became a official member. Now, I currently travel with them participating in chalk festivals, chalk pop-ups and even teaching youth camps or local schools about chalk. In conclusion, I remain to push my creative abilities every day with new discoveries.
